16 DAY OVERLAND SAFARI TO INCLUDE THE MAKGADIKGADI PANS, NXAI PAN NATIONAL PARK, OKAVANGO DELTA, GAME PARKS OF BOTSWANA, & VICTORIA FALLS

 

Safari Africa can offer a16 day safari experience to include theMakgadikgadi Pans, Nxai Pan National Park, Moremi Wildlife Reserve, the Savuti Channel, Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls. Listen to the haunting cry of the fish eagle, see herds of elephant and buffalo, tsessebe and zebra. A boating experience in the papyrus fringed channels of the delta is included with the option to fly over the delta. Adventure awaits you at the Victoria Falls with a choice of optional excursions from white water rafting to microlighting.

This safari starts in Johannesburg and ends in Victoria Falls.

Day 1: We depart from Johannesburg at 06h00 and follow the great north road to Nylstroom and on through the Waterberg. Crossing the Limpopo River we enter Botswana at Groblersbrug. Lunch break en route towards Francistown. We camp near Francistown on our first night.

Day 2: After breakfast we leave and continue towards Nata and the Makgadikgadi Pans. We set up camp near the pan is, lunch is served and there is time to relax and rest. An afternoon game drive along the Nata River to reach the Vast pans and Watch the dramatic sunset over this ancient fossil lake. During the rainy season and when there is water in the Pans, birdlife is abundant. Return to camp. Campfire dinner. Overnight Makgadikgadi Pans. 

Day 3: An early breakfast before our journey continues to Nxai Pan National Park, home to springbok, gemsbok and zebras. We stop en route at Kudiakam Pan, famous for its cluster of ancient baobabs, known as Baines Baobabs. Bush lunch served. A game drive around Nxai Pan before our evening dinner. Overnight Nxai Pan National Park.

Day 4: An early game drive and breakfast before leaving Nxai Pan to reach Maun, Gateway to the Okavango. We collect fly-in passengers and travel to our camp in Maun, unpack, shower and relax. In the afternoon an optional - game flight offers you an aerial view of the Okavango Delta. Sundowners around the campfire before dinner. Overnight at Maun Camp. ( Bookings for optional extras should be made in advance)

Day 5: We Make an early Start and drive through traditional villages before entering the South Gate into Moremi Wildlife Reserve. We should see game en route to this reserve. Our game drive takes us on d scenic road through Moremi to Xaxanaka Lagoons. Shown to tents. Time to shower before dinner served in dining tent. Camp near Xaxanaka in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 6: Early morning coffee and tea, and we set off on d full morning's game drive to return to camp at 11h00 for a delicious brunch. Time now to shower, rest and relax incamp. After tea we set off on our afternoon game drive through Moremi with its wilderness of rivers and lagoons. Return to camp and relax around the campfire. Dinner served in dining tent. Camp near Xaxanaka in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 7: Early morning game drive through Moremi with its magnificent scenery in search of numbers of wildlife resident in this area. Time to relax at camp during the day. Afternoon boating excursion on the Xaxanaka lagoons takes us down the papyrus fringed channels of the eastern delta which are prolific in birdlife. Camp near Xaxanaka in exclusive wilderness area.Day 8: having had breakfast we leave Xaxanaka and continue on an interesting riverine route through Moremi to arrive and set up camp within sight of Kwai River at Moremi's North Gate. Camp near Kwai River in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 9: Early morning and afternoon game drives exploring the Kwai River area should reveal a variety of game. Leisure time to relax at camp during the day. Camp near Kwai River in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 10: An early morning game drive to have one last look at the Kwai before returning to our camp for breakfast. We leave Moremi and our route takes us on an interesting day's drive northwards to Savuti. We stop en route for lunch. A game drive past the grassy plains of the Mababe Depression takes to our campsite. Overnight Savuti in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 11: Savuti is one of Africa's most densely populated predator areas, and well known for its bull elephants. The Savuti Waterhole offers an ever changing spectacle of birds and wildlife. Morning and afternoon game drives with leisure time to relax during the beat of the day. Overnight Savuti in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 12: leaving the plains of the Savuti Marsh we follow the Nqwezumba Valley driving through Mopane forests. lunch en route. We arrive at the remote pan of Nogaatsha, on which d variety of wildlife depend. Camp within sight of this waterhole. Overnight in the area of Nogaatsha.

Day 13: After breakfast we leave for the Chobe River. On our afternoon game drive in the Chobe National Park we should see the breeding herds of elephant and large herds of buffalo for which this park is famous. In the afternoon a boating excursion on the Chobe River offers a new dimension to game viewing. Camp along Chobe River in exclusive wilderness area.

Day 14: A leisurely breakfast and time to pack before we cross the border into Zimbabwe at Kazungula. An hour's drive takes us to Victoria Falls. We have lunch on the banks of the Zambezi River after which we take you to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure - you can view the magnificent Victoria Falls, or wander around the curio shops in the town. Own arrangements for dinner. Overnight Lodge Accommodation on Full Board basis.

Day 15: Our second day in Victoria Falls provides the opportunity for adventure. Among the optional excursions available are:

* A full day or half day's exhilarating White water rafting on the gorges below the falls.

* A full day or half day's Canoeing and walking trails on the Upper Zambezi.

* Afternoon cruise on the Zambezi River

* Flight of the Angels.

* Microlighting over the Zambezi

* Bungi Jumping! 

Clients preferring to explore the Falls again, or visit the curio shops can do so at leisure. We meet for a farewell dinner with a traditional touch and a variety of barbecued specialities. Overnight Lodge Accommodation on Full Board basis.

Day 16: After breakfast you will have the morning at leisure. Arrangements should be made with your hotel regarding airport transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for outbound flights. US$20 airport tax is required on departure from Zimbabwe.
