'Following in the footsteps
of Dr David Livingstone' Dr David Livingstone (1813 - 1873) visited Ngamiland
(Bechuanaland) in his early exploration trips from Kuruman to Lake Dow,
Lake Ngami, Khwai, Linyati, Chobe and Mosi-oa-Tunya.
We offer a fully serviced
classic mobile safari 'under canvas' in secluded bush camps situated in
the famous Botswana Reserves and National Parks. A safari crew travelling
in a separate vehicle erects the comfortable camp. A professional safari
guide conducts early morning and late afternoon game drives. The guests
will have time to relax and absorb the magnificent wilderness atmosphere
of our secluded private bush camp. The group size is limited to 8 participants
per departure to ensure personalized attention and to maximize comfort.
Operates from Maun to Victoria Falls and Victoria Falls to Maun
on set departure dates from April to the end on November.
DAY 1: MAUN - OKAVANGO AREA
OF MOREMI
Your guide welcomes you at Maun Airport and we travel to our secluded
bush camp in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve.
DAY 2: OKAVANGO AREA OF MOREMI
The reserve is situated in the north-eastern corner of the Okavango Delta.
It is a pure wilderness area of great beauty, rich green vegetation, palm
trees, teeming with birdlife and a vast population of animals. We spend
our time exploring the area during early morning and late afternoon game
drives. (full board)
DAY 3/4: MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
We leave for an early morning game drive while our safari crew moves the
camp to another area of the reserve, depending on the seasonal migration
of the game. The reserve, created in 1968 by the initiative of the Tswana
tribe, is considered by many travellers to be the finest game park in
Southern Africa. (full board)
DAY 5/6: SAVUTE - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
The Savute Marsh is the deepest part of the Mababe Depression and it is
the only part to have filled up with water in recent history. Today the
marsh is dry and attracts a large population of animals, particularly
hyena and lion. The Savute channel has a fascinating history of flooding
and drying up independently of good, rainy seasons and flood levels elsewhere,
a mystery that has intrigued geologists for many years. Our guide takes
us on game drives in the morning and late afternoon. (full board).
DAY 7/8: CHOBE RIVER - CHOBE
NATIONAL PARK
After 2 nights at the Savute Channel, we travel northwards and install
our bush camp near the Chobe River. Chobe is famous for its beautiful
scenery and magnificent sunsets. The largest elephant population (+-30
000) in Africa lives in the region and we may have the opportunity to
watch herds of elephant drinking at the river. In November 1855, David
Livingstone, with his 114 porters, left the Linyati / Chobe for the Great
Falls east of Sesheke ; the falls of Mosi-oa-Tunya "The smoke that thunders".
(full board)
DAY 9: VICTORIA FALLS / LIVINGSTONE
We travel to Victoria Falls / Livingstone - without doubt one of the greatest
and most unforgettable spectacles, where the waters tumble down in continuous
thunder. "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their
flight" - written in David Livingstones diary. (Hotel accommodation with
breakfast)
