Days 1 & 2 - Gomoti Camp Private Reserve

Gomoti Camp - rich on game and birdlife & low on people.

Situated in the private Gomoti/Sankoyo Reserve, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, this stunning area offers a unique opportunity to observe a large variety of wildlife during the day and at night.

Arrive Maun to connect with a road transfer to the private area of Sankoyo Reserve. The drive is about 25km on tar road and then the rest on dirt road, the journey will take about 2.5 hours, you may encounter game en-route.

Gomoti Camp is named after the Gomoti River, which is part of the lower reaches of the Okavango Delta, the flooding of the Gomoti River is seasonal. The camp is sprawled out under the shady branches of a magnificent Knobthorn Acacia, accommodation is in 8 comfortable meru tents on raised wooden platforms, with shared bathroom facilities. There is a comfortable dining and lounge area, from which the view spreads across the open flood plains. Activities are game drives and night drives with your guide and a Sankoyo community escort guide in the private reserve. The area boasts some of the largest male lion in Botswana and you may also have the privilege to see cheetah, wild dog, leopard and elephant as well as a variety of antelope. The night drives give you a chance to see animals in their nocturnal environment. In the evening around the campfire, listen to the sounds of the bush while you recount your day.

 

Days 3 & 4 - Semetsi Camp Okavango Delta

Semetsi Camp - place of water.

Explore the winding waterways of the Okavango Delta by traditional mokoro (dugout canoe) and on guided walks across Chief’s Island. Semetsi Camp is a bush camp where you can experience the pure delta experience in a low impact bush camp - no vehicles, no electricity. Peace and tranquility amongst the sounds of Africa.

You will drive back to Maun to connect with a light aircraft transfer to Semetsi Camp, as you fly over the Delta you can see the intricate twisting and turning of the waterways and the ever-changing colours as dry lands meets Delta. The transfer to camp is on foot/mokoro. You will spend two nights at the bush camp Semetsi, which is serviced with eight permanently sited tents equipped with comfortable fitted beds. Bathroom facilities are shared and consist of three traditional reeded units with hote/cold showers and flush toilets. Meals will be served in the open dining hall with other guests and the evening can be enjoyed around the campfire. The days will be spent exploring the area in traditional dug-out canoes, poling through the low level flood plains that surround the adjacent islands whilst in search of game and game walks on nearby islands with your poler/guides. You will return to camp for a hearty lunch and a siesta break from the heat of the day around camp, then set off in the afternoon/evening for another excursion.

 

Days 5 & 6 - Camp Okuti Moremi Game Reserve

Camp Okuti - the magic of Moremi

Discover the treasure trove of wildlife that is Moremi Game Reserve at Camp Okuti, where you will explore the Xakanaxa area and surrounds in open safari vehicles and by motorboat. Camp Okuti is a welcome touch of comfort after your delta experience - deluxe bungalows and a well stocked bar, amidst the wilderness of Botswana’s prime Game Reserve.

You will fly across the Okavango Delta to the Xakanaxa area of Moremi Game Reserve followed by a short transfer by vehicle to Camp Okuti. You will spend two nights in comfort at Camp Okuti, the bungalows are equipped with generated electricity, they have en-suite bathrooms and are serviced daily. There is an open dining hall and bar, a curio shop and a campfire area overlooking the Xakanaxa Lagoon. The days will be spent going out in the open safari vehicles searching for game in the diverse areas of the game reserve - from open floodplains to belts of mopane woodland. You will also enjoy motor-boating on the waters of the Okavango Delta, up through Xakanaxa Lagoon and beyond. Again your typical day will offer a morning and afternoon activity, returning to camp for meals and siesta in the heat of the day.

 

Day 7

After a morning activity you will return to Maun in time for your onward connections.

Whilst at Gomoti Camp, Semetsi Camp and Camp Okuti all meals, selected beverages, activities as per itinerary, return transfers from Maun and National Park Fees are included. This itinerary is subject to reversal of camps and subject to availability. There is a luggage restriction of 12 kg per person in soft manageable bags, excess luggage can be stored in Maun whilst in the camps.
