EASTERN BOTSWANA HORSE BACK SAFARIS
5 Day - Tuli Horse Safari
Day 1Upon your arrival at Pont Drift border post or the Tuli Airstrip at 12h00 sharp, a Mashatu game guide and vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to Fort Jameson for lunch. After lunch you will be introduced to your trusty steed and your kit will be packed into the vehicle in preparation for the next few days riding.
You will ride out of Fort Jameson around 14H00, heading for the Tuli Circle border of Zimbabwe. The first overnight camp is situated on the old Zeedenburg coach route, on the banks of the Pitsane River under a grove of Leadwood trees.
Day 2
After tea/coffee and Joyce's delicious early morning breakfast surprise; you will saddle up and head out into the African bush. Today the trail follows the famous Zeederburg coach route, including a visit to an Anglo-Boer war site. The final destination is at the confluence of the Magalua and Limpopo Rivers where a wonderful lunch awaits you. This riveriene spot is home to large herds of elephant.
The afternoon will be spent exploring the Limpopo riverbanks on foot. You will enjoy sundowners and a night around the fire at Limpopo camp.
Day 3
After tea/coffee and Joyce's delicious breakfast. This mornings ride will include visits to Nel's Vlei, and various historically significant Boer-war battle sights. There are large open plains that afford the opportunity for exhilarating riding amongst herds of wildebeest and zebra. Lunch awaits you at Pete's Pond. Pete's Pond camp has a hide overlooking a large watering hole, the wildlife and birdlife is prolific.
The afternoon can be spent sitting in the hide overlooking the watering hole. You will be treated to another famous meal and a night under the African sky.
Day 4
After breakfast the mornings riding begins. Today the trail does not follow a pre-set course to the final destination of 3-Mashatus camp for lunch. There is freedom on this morning's ride to track and encounter wildlife and the environment as it presents itself.
The afternoon is spent relaxing and walking in the surrounding bush, "getting at one with nature".
Day 5
Unlike the previous mornings this one is a lie in one, with a leisurely breakfast. The ride is a leisurely one following various game trails back to Fort Jameson. Lunch is scheduled for 12H00, and after lunch you will be transferred to either Pont Drift or Tuli Airstrip.
