South Luangwa is
a multi faceted National Park with diverse habitats, scenery
and game. A minimum length of stay to truly experience its many
wonders is not less than 7 days.
Three nights initially at
Chinzombo to explore the very scenic Mfuwe area with its
lagoons, woodlands, meandering river course and excellent game.
Then a four night stay at the 2 bush camps, Chamilandu and
Kuyenda for a totally different experience in a remote part of
the park.
Days 1, 2 & 3. Chinzombo
Safari Lodge. Arrive at Mfuwe Airport, in the South Luangwa,
Zambia where you will be met by a lodge representative for your
drive to Chinzombo. Chinzombo is a permanent camp perfectly
placed on the banks of the Luangwa river with bar and swimming
pool overlooking both the park and the river. Activities
available from Chinzombo include day and night drives, walking
safaris and visits to a cultural village.
Five double chalets with ensuite
facilities, nestle under the shade of a magnificent grove of
mahogany trees on the west bank of the Luangwa river. Chalets
are either double or twin, with mains power supply.
Days 4 & 5. Kuyenda Bush
Camp is ideally situated within the National Park and by
sleeping only six people, allows our staff to give you the kind
of personal attention you deserve. The management and guiding
is done by Mr. Phil Berry who has over 35 years of experience
in the National Park making him by far and away the most
experienced naturalist / conservationist in South Luangwa.
Activities available from Kuyenda include day and night drives,
walking safaris or a combination walk / night drive.
Whilst the bush camps are
traditionally rustic, every comfort has been afforded with
en-suite facilities and solar power. All camps are serviced by
fully stocked bars. Each bush camp accommodates six people for
an unparalleled personalised bush experience.
Days 6 & 7. Chamilandu Bush
Camp is Chinzombo's southern most camp and is also located
within the National Park and, like Kuyenda, offers a truly
remote wilderness safari adventure. Chamilandu overlooks the
Luangwa river and the Nchendene Hills and is accessible only by
boat.
Most of the safaris at Chamilndu
are led by Jayson Alfonsi, himself a notably experienced guide
who has logged over 15 years in the National Park. Chamilandu
does offer limited night driving, however emphasis is placed
upon the walking safaris.
Day 8. Onward flight home or to
another destination within Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe or any
other southern or eastern Africa country.
Desetinations within Zambia
include the North Luangwa, Shiwa
Ngandu, Lake Tanganika,
the North & South Kafue, the Lower
Zambezi and Livingstone
(Zambian side of Victoria
Falls).
Destinations within Malawi, such
as the Livingstonia
Beach Hotel on the
shores of Lake Malawi, Mvuu Wilderness Lodge in the Liwonde
National Park at the southern end of the Lake, Nyika
Horse Safaris and also
the new Chelinda
Lodge on the Nyika
Plateau in the north of Malawi or Club Makokola Beach Resort on
the shores of Lake Malawi at the southern end of the
Lake.
