ELSA'S FOOTSTEPS SPECIAL
10 Day Luxury Fly-In Safari

Visiting Elsa's Kopje in Meru, Samburu Intrepids in Samburu
& Mara Camp in the Masai Mara

Day 1 is a Saturday and departs on a weekly basis with the
exception of the months of April, May and November

Day 1 Machusla House, Nairobi
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta, you will be met by a Cheli & Peacock representative and transferred from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to the rustic charm and modern comforts of this delightful hotel, set in the forested outskirts of Nairobi. Relax by the swimming pool or just rest and enjoy the sunshine, or perhaps visit the neighbouring Giraffe Sanctuary.

Day 2 Elsa's Kopje, Meru
Early morning transfer to Wilson Airport for the 07h45 Air Kenya scheduled flight from Wilson Airport to Meru. On arrival at Mughwango airstrip, you will be met by a driver-guide and taken up the hill to the lodge. After lunch relax poolside or on your hillview verandah before going on an early evening game drive or bush walk.

Elsa's Kopje, Meru National Park.
Elsa's Kopje is a luxurious oasis in the stunning Meru National Park, home to Elsa the lioness made famous by George and Joy Adamson. 8 'Makuti' (thatched) stone cottages blend into the hillside, each with its own bath or shower and toilet ensuite and private verandah with a unique view. The cottages face across seemingly endless savannah, fringed with doum palms, crisscrossed by 13 rivers. Bushbabies and Hyrax live on Mughwango Hill and close by Elsa's descendents hunt the shy but plentiful plains game. This Park is renowned for its Elephant herds and fantastic flora and scenery

Days 3 & 4 Elsa's Kopje, Meru
Full days of game viewing on foot or in one of the custom open sided safari Land Rovers. Try an early morning guided walk in the bush to work up your appetite for a delicious bush breakfast, freshly prepared in front of your eyes, out in the Park. Or take an extended gamedrive to the banks of the Tana River to view the hippos and crocodiles ending with late afternoon sundowners on the river banks before a night game drive home. Line fishing and excursions to nearby Kora Game Reserve can be arranged.

Day 5: Samburu Intrepids, Samburu National Park
This morning after breakfast transfer to Wilson airport for your 08:15 flight to Samburu. You will be met on arrival and game driven en-route to Samburu Intrepids. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Samburu/ Buffalo Springs Reserve is located on the fringe of the arid northern region of Kenya within the territory of the Samburu pastoralists. Due to it’s location it has wildlife that is rare elsewhere in the country. These animals include the Gerenuk antelope, Oryx, Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich and Reticulated giraffe. Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp located within the Samburu Game Reserve on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River.

Day 6: Samburu Intrepids, Samburu National Park
A day for game viewing, take early morning and late evening game drives returning to the lodge for meals. The camp is shaded by tall acacia trees and all 27 tents overlook the river. The dining and lounge areas are more reminiscent of a fantasy tree house set on stilts with its vaulted thatched roofs and sprawling wooden terraces. All tents are spacious, well appointed, have en-suite facilities and are fronted by individual decks overlooking the river. There is a swimming pool and optional activities include bush breakfasts, bird walks and camel safaris. Overnight at Samburu Intrepids.

Day 7: Cheli & Peacock Mara Camp, Maasai Mara
Leave Elsa's Kopje: 0845: depart on Air Kenya schedule from Meru, arrive Mara 1045 approx. You will be met at the airstrip by our driver guide for a leisurely gamedrive back to camp. After lunch relax in the shade before an early evening game walk or drive.

Mara Camp, Maasai Mara.
Cheli & Peacock's Mara Camp is idyllic; shaded by an indigenous forest of mature trees the camp looks out on an endless vista of plains game and the open plains characteristic of the world's most sought after game reserve. The 6 traditional safari tents are very comfortable and spacious with en-suite hot showers, safari 'short-drop' toilets, washroom and dressing area. Evenings by the campfire overlooking the plains, lit only by the soft glow of hurricane lamps and dinner under the stars are a special feature of this seasonal tented camp. This is an original bush camp. Put up for the season and then packed away to leave no trace behind. Here you leave the modern world behind and relax with nature, evenings bathed in the soft light of hurricane lamps, no generators, no vehicles passing, just the sights and sounds of the bush...

Days 8 & 9: Cheli & Peacock Mara Camp, Maasai Mara
Full days of gameviewing in the Maasai Mara, the world's most famous 'Big Cat' wilderness. The ritual of extended game drives or exploring on foot, guided by our professional safari guide becomes addictive. Optional activities include a balloon trip across the Maasai Mara and champagne breakfast, bush breakfast or sundowner or a day's excursion to Lake Victoria to spend the day exploring and enjoying the watersports and activities around the lake shores.

Day 10 Depart
Say goodbye to the Mara and return to Nairobi after lunch. Catch the 11:00 Air Kenya scheduled flight Mara - Wilson, arriving 12:15. You will be met by a Cheli & Peacock driver to transfer to your Nairobi hotel or the international airport
