DAY WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE A flying safari maximizing time in Kenya's premier game reserves …... Samburu/Buffalo Springs Reserve located in the arid north offers a very different arid habitat to the South of the country. The Reserve has many elephants roaming throughout along with an array of predators and rarer plains game. The Masai Mara Reserve needs little introduction it's rolling grass plains supporting a large population of predators and plains game alike, it is also host to the annual wildebeest migration between July and October. Both Reserves have a remarkable array of bird species including Northern migrants between November and March. Accommodation is in two classic bush camps located away from any other camps or lodges. Both camps have a high standard of cuisine, offer a personalized service and provide a true wilderness experience. Days 1 & 2: Depart Nairobi on a scheduled flight to Samburu departing at 0915 from Wilson Airport. Arrive into Samburu at 1030 where you will be met on arrival and game driven en-route to Olla Odda Camp. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Samburu/ Buffalo Springs Reserve is located on the fringe of the arid northern region of Kenya within the territory of the Samburu pastoralists. Due to its location it has wildlife that is rare elsewhere in the country. These animals include the Gerenuk antelope, Oryx, Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich and Reticulated giraffe. Olla Odda Camp a classic bush camp located under the shade of Tortilis trees in the heart of Buffalo Springs Reserve. The camp caters for up to 25 guests and has an intimate relaxed atmosphere. Overnights at Olla Odda Camp. Days 3 & 4: This morning you will be transferred to the airstrip for flight to Masai Mara Game Reserve departing at 0915 to arrive 1045. Here we will meet you and transfer you across the plains to the camp. Freshen up before lunch. Later set off on an afternoon game drive till sunset. Return to camp for a hot shower, then join us around the campfire for an aperitif before dining under the stars. Kicheche Mara Camp is a luxury bush camp hidden away in a grove of trees on the Aitong plains of the Masai Mara. There are a maximum of 20 guests, all staying under canvas in this intimate camp situated in prime wildlife habitat.
The Masai Mara game reserve, is probably the most famous in Africa. Rising grassland nearly 2000m above sea level, watered by the Mara river and covering an area of 1500 sq. km. The Mara is well known for the part it plays in the seasonal (June/Sept) migration from the Serengeti of 200,000 Zebra, 300,000 Thomson Gazelle and 1.3 million Wildebeest following the annual rains. The Mara region however provides for wonderful game viewing year round. In all 95 mammal, amphibian and reptile species plus 485 flying species excluding insects inhabit the Mara eco-system.
Day 5: Another early start for your final game drive, returning to camp for breakfast. Afterwards, we transfer you back to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi (departures at 11 a.m. & 4 p.m.)
