MALAWI & THE SOUTH LUANGWA Day 1 – On arrival in Lilongwe you will be met by one of our representatives and taken by car to Mvuu Lodge in Liwonde National Park. This is a 3 ½ hour drive from Lilongwe. Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is located inside the borders of the spectacular Liwonde National Park in southern Malawi, the lodge is situated on the banks of the Shire River and offers luxury accommodation in Hemingway style tents. Accommodation – 5 luxury ensuite tents
Facilities – Pool at Lodge, central bar and dining areas, library. 3 nights at Mvuu Lodge – Full Board Basis ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Day 4 – Drive from Mvuu Lodge to Mumbo Island at Cape Maclear, this is a 3 hour drive. Mumbo Island is an exclusive camp situated on a pristine and otherwise-deserted tropical island floating on the clear waters of Lake Malawi. The camp comprises five large safari tents, each fully furnished with its own shaded view-deck and hammock, and blending seamlessly into the lush foliage. There is a dining area, bar and water sport gazebo, all of timber, thatch and canvas, and adhering to the principles of eco-architecture.
Accommodation – 5 safari tents per island (currently not ensuite), Rustic accommodation with shared bathroom facilities, good basic food – honesty bar. 3 nights at Mumbo Camp on Full Board Basis ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Day 7 – Drive from Mumbo Camp to Club Mak which will take around 1 hour for a 2 hour flight to the Nyika Plateau and Chelinda Lodge. Chelinda Lodge sits on the 2607 metre high Nyika Plateau, where the rolling grassland stretches as far as the eye can see. Situated in the centre of the park at 2100 metres. The lodge has panoramic views across rolling hills. Malaria Free. Accommodation – 8 individual log cabins
3 nights at Chelinda Lodge on Full Board Basis ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Day 10 – Today fly from Chelinda Lodge to the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. The flight will take just under 2 hours, from Mfuwe airport you have a 45 minute drive to Luangwa River Lodge, this is one of the newest lodges in the Mfuwe area of the South Luangwa, having opened in 2005. It is situated under a grove of ebony trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. The lodge’s gentle but exquisite décor fuses vibrant earth tones and raw materials to create an elegant yet warm environment. It is the most stylish accommodation in the area.
2 nights at Luangwa River Lodge – Full Board Basis
Accommodation – 5 individually designed chalets with ensuite bathrooms with shower and sunken bathtubs. Mosquito nets, fans, mains power, plunge pool and deck. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Day 12 – You transfer a little deeper into the African Bush and the South Luangwa about 1 hours drive from Luangwa River Lodge you come across Kuyenda Camp.
This traditional seasonal Zambian Bushcamp has 4 ensuite thatched rondavels with openair bathrooms and bucket showers. Mosqueto nets are provided and as this camp is off the beaten track it only has generator power.
