Discovering Namibia is a captivating experience.'Venture into a world of changing scenery, vast unspoilt wilderness, with its cosmopolitan atmosphere and people. We explore Namibia's attractions using a diverse itinerary, including the central area with the Namib Desert (Sesriem and Sossusvlei) and the northern area with the famous Etosha National Park and Damaraland.

 

DAY 1: WINDHOEK

Windhoek, with its novel scenery of German architecture, activities and atmosphere, is a city which can be visited throughout the year. The day is spent at leisure. Hotel Safari or guesthouse / lodge. (Dinner).

 

DAY 2: WATERBERG PLATEAU

25Okm north of Windhoek, we enter the Waterberg Plateau Park. We relax in the peace and tranquillity of the area and enjoy the unique natural environment of the rest camp or guesthouse / lodge (Breakfast, lunch and dinner).

DAYS 3 to 6: ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

This park is one of the most important reserves and game sanctuaries in Africa. The pan itself is a vast shallow depression 139km by 5Okm. It is a ghostly white lake, dazzling with heat waves and mirages for most of the year. Thousands of wild animals such as blue wildebeest, springbok, kudu, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, leopard, lion, elephant etc. are attracted to the area. The birdlife is prolific with 326 recorded species. We relax around the swimming pool and enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives. We stay at rest camps in the park or similar accommodation outside the park.

DAYS 7 & 8: DAMARALAND

The Damaraland is a vast and rugged terrain. Its mountain ranges are intercepted by wide gravel plains which run into sandy, vegetated riverbeds and hot, dry valleys. We may be fortunate to see the rare desert elephant or the elusive black rhino. Hobatere Lodge / Palmwag Lodge or similar. (Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner).

 

DAY 9: TWYFELFONTEIN

Twyfelfontein "Fountain of Doubt" possibly has the most spectacular collection of rock paintings and engravings in Africa. Other attractions include the Petrified Forest which has a large number of fossilised tree trunks, the Burnt Mountain and the Organ Pipes. Vingerklip Lodge, or similar. (Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner).

 

DAYS 10 & 11: SWAKOPMUND

Swakopmund, with its German colonial atmosphere, is the principal resort of Namibia. This charming town is surrounded by the Namib Desert and has many buildings and houses dating back to the German colonial era. A day excursion takes us to the Moon Valley and the Welwitschia an unusual prehistoric plant which is a dwarf -tree flourishing on the moisture of the Atlantic Coast. Its lifespan is estimated at more than 1000 years. Hotel Adler or similar. (Breakfast and dinner).

 

DAYS 12 & 13: SESRIEM - NAMIB DESERT

Our journey takes us through the Namib Desert, a vast solitary place, harsh and primeval, the oldest desert on earth. The gigantic 275m high red and grey dunes are the highest in the world. This desert is extraordinary with over 200 species of beetles, scorpions, spiders geckoes, chameleons, crickets, wasps, lizards, moles, sidewinder snake's, snake-eating eagles and jackals.

Most of the creatures and plants depend on the mist of the Atlantic Ocean for survival. Namib Naukluft Lodge / Kulala Lodge or similar. (Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner).

 

DAY14: KALAHARI

The lodge is situated amongst the red desert dunes of the Kalahari. The area contains a variety of game and birds, together with numerous acacias and grass species typical of the red Kalahari dune ecosystem. lntu Africa Lodge / Auob Lodge or similar.

(Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner).

 

DAY 15: WINDHOEK

Arrival in Windhoek during the course of the afternoon. (Breakfast only).
