THE
IDEAL NAMIBIA SAFARI Day 1 We depart Windhoek and
traverse the Khomas Hochland highlands stopping for lunch at Spreetshoogte
Pass which has one of the most stunning viewpoints in Namibia, before
descending to the Namib Desert. After stopping at Solitaire for refreshments
we proceed to our Lodge for overnight.Dinner at the Lodge. Day 2 Very early morning drive into the dunes, continue to Sossusvlei and the world's highest sand dunes, with their endlessly changing colors and contrasts - an amazing experience! Spend the morning walking and marvelling at the incredible scenery. Learn a little about the flora and fauna that survive in such a harsh environment. Have breakfast and lunch in the dunes and then return, via Sesriem Gorge, to the lodge - time to relax by the pool. Dinner at the lodge. Driving time approx. Day 3 An incredible drive through the gravel plains of the Namib Desert, via the Kuiseb Canyon and up to Walvis Bay. Lunch will be taken en-route. Upon arrival in Walvis Bay we visit the lagoons to observe the flamingos. Continue up to Swakopmund to arrive late afternoon. Accommodation in a Pension. Dinner in town (Excellent fish to be eaten here). Driving time approx. 6hrs (280kms) Pension En-suite Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 4 Guests can partake in many optional activities such as dune boarding, quad biking, light-aircraft flight over the Namib and along the Skeleton Coast etc. We will take a trip out to see the Welwitchia plants and the Moon Landscape. Dinner in town. Pension En-suite Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 5 Today we head north along the Skeleton Coast to Henties Bay, and on to the Cape Cross Reserve, where thousands of seals live and breed. From here we head inland to Damaraland and the Brandberg, (Namibia's highest peak) for overnight at a permanent tented camp. The camp is situated on the banks of a dry watercourse, the Ugab River, where one may have the opportunity of seeing the desert adapted elephant. Driving time approx. 6hrs (300kms) Tented Camp Communal facilities Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 6 We depart early in order to reach Twyfelfontein (before the heat of the day) with its wealth of rock engravings and paintings. The journey takes us through very picturesque country with a stop at the petrified forest. We travel via Khorixas and the farming community of Kamanjab, and a private Lodge where the following two nights will be spent. Dinner at the Lodge. Driving time approx. 6hrs (440kms) Lodge En-suite Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 7 After breakfast we drive further north following the western boundary of Etosha National Park and on to Opuwo in Kaokoland. The day will be spent visiting the villages of the Himba people who lead a nomadic life and have managed to retain their traditional way of life. Lunch will be taken in the area.Return during the afternoon to the lodge. An optional night drive may be undertaken. Driving time approx. day visit (650kms) Lodge En-suite Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 8 Leaving the region with its stunning landscapes we head east into Etosha. Our journey today will be game driving through the western half of the Park, an area restricted for use by Registered Tour Operators only. We will arrive at our Rest Camp during mid afternoon, in time to relax by the pool. Tonight your guide will prepare your supper over an open fire, a great bush experience. The waterhole at the camp is floodlit and famous for its sightings of black rhino. Accommodation in bungalows. Driving time approx. day visit (120kms) Okaukuejo Rest Camp Shared facilities Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 9 After breakfast we travel through the Park, the morning will be spent in the form of a game drive to the following Rest Camp. After lunch, there is time to relax by the pool or the waterhole before an afternoon game drive. Dinner in the restaurant and a scenic floodlit waterhole where one can spend the evening. Accommodation in bungalows. Halali Rest Camp Shared facilities Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 10 Today we continue east across the Park arriving at Namutoni camp. Again we are here in time for lunch and time to relax in the midday heat. After an afternoon game drive, it is back for supper in the restaurant and a final evenings viewing at the floodlit waterhole. Accommodation in bungalows. Namutoni Rest Camp Shared facilities Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 11 Departing Etosha we make our way south through the towns of Tsumeb and Otjiwarongo and on to Waterberg Plateau. After lunch, there is time to do some of the many short walks in the Park and learn a little about the history of this area. We can watch the sunset from the Plateau, looking out over the Kalahari. On this our final evening, your guide will again prepare your supper over an open fire. Accommodation in bungalows. Driving time approx. 5hrs (350kms) Waterberg Rest Camp Shared facilities Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Day 12 The drive down to Windhoek is on a good road and we arrive in time for afternoon flights/final night in town (not included).
