16 DAY NAMIBIAN SAFARI

 

INCLUDING VISITS TO

SOSSUSVLEI, THE WEST COAST, SWAKOPMUND, DAMARALAND, AND A VISIT TO THE OVAHIMBA, EPUPA FALLS & THE ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK.

 

Travelling through the changing landscapes of Namibia we take you from Sossusvlei to the West Coast. Our route takes us to Damaraland and on through Kaokoland to meet with the Ovahimba tribe. Finally we reach the Epupa Falls on the northern most boundary of Namibia. From the Etosha Park we return to Windhoek via the Waterberg Plateau Park.

Day 1: You are met at Windhoek International Airport or at a guest house in Windhoek and we commence our safari to drive westwards descending the Spreetshoogte Pass to Solitaire. Breathtaking views deep into the lower lying Namibian plains. We arrive at Sesriem camp situated on the edge of the Namib Naukluft Park. Overnight at Sesriem campsite.

 

Day 2: Early morning visit to some of the highest sand dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. Visit the Sesriem canyon in the afternoon. Overnight Sesriem.

 

Day 3: Drive through the Namib Naukluft Park and observe the rich diversity of desert adapted fauna and fiord, including the welwitschia plant. Reach the quaint and historic town of Swakopmund. Camp is set up near Swakopmund. Time to relax, rest and shower. Campfire dinner. Overnight at campsite in Swakopmund.

 

Day 4: Weather permitting, the day's activities will be decided upon between the following: Birdwatching at Walvis bay, visiting the Museum and rug Making industry and other places of interest in Swakopmund or driving up the spectacular Swakop River. Overnight at campsite in Swakopmund.

 

Day 5: We drive north viewing some of the largest lichenfields worldwide and visiting the historical site of Cape Cross, home to some 80,000 seals. We leave the coast and head eastwards to end the day in the scenic vast Pro Namib. Overnight in the wild.

 

Day 6: Our journey continues to reach Aba~Huab campsite where desert elephants can occasionally he seen. Overnight Aba-Huab campsite.

 

Day 7: Spend the morning exploring one of the largest collections of rock engravings discovered as yet, at Twyfelfontein and visit Burnt Mountain. In the afternoon a drive along the Aba-Huab river bed in search of desert elephant and rhino. Overnight Aba-Huab campsite.

 

Day 8: We drive north via Palmwag into the changing landscape of Kaokoland towards Sesfontein. Overnight at the Ongongo Falls near Sesfontein.

 

Day 9: Our route takes us far north via Opuwo to the breathtaking Epupa Falls on the Kunene River. Overnight at Epupa falls.

 

Day 10: Today we visit Himba villages to observe the lifestyle of this friendly, once nomadic people. We spend more time enjoying the Epupa Falls. Overnight Epupa Falls.

 

Day 11: We leave the Falls and our route takes us south through the heart of Kaokoland. Set up camp in the wild en route to Etosha National Park.

 

Days 12 and 13: We enter the Etosha National Park at the extreme west end and drive eastwards along densely populated game routes. The waterhole at Okaukuejo is floodlit at night and spectacular wildlife is almost guaranteed. lions, elephants and black rhino come to quench their thirst almost every night. Camp two nights at Okaukuejo.

 

Day 14: On our daylong game drive we observe spectacular wildlife activity around waterholes where game concentrates during the dry season. Lunch stop en route. We travel along the edge of the Etosha Pan to Namutoni, along famous and varied game routes Such as the "Dik Dik" Draai where we look out for the smallest antelope in the Etosha Park. Overnight Namutoni campsite.

 

Day 15: We drive south via Otjiwarongo to enter the Waterberg Plateau Park which offers spectacular views and d variety of game. Overnight Waterberg Plateau Park.

 

Day 16: Depart as early as possible for Windhoek to reach Windhoek International Airport in time for outbound flights.
