9 DAY MORNING GLORY SAFARI

South Africa including Cape Town, Luxury Train Journey and Garden Route

DAYS 1, 2 & 3 - CAPE TOWN - Cape Grace Hotel
On arrival in Cape Town, you will be met and transfered to the Cape Grace Hotel for the next three nights. The hotel is beautifully situated on the West Quay of the vibrant Waterfront Area of Cape Town. Surrounded on three sides by water, the rooms all have views of Table Mountain, the working harbour or the Yacht Marina. The Cape Grace is elegantly designed and furnished. The rooms are spacious and blissfully comfortable and the service is impeccable. Activities included over the two days are a visit to the Table Mountains and a full day excursion to the spectacular Cape Peninsula where you will travel past Sea Point, Camps Bay, the famous beaches of Clifton and towards Hout Bay via Chapmans Peak Drive. After lunch enroute, you will continue to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and ride the funicular to the scenic view point where the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans meet. The return journey will take you past the beautiful Boulders Beach, famous for its Jackass Penguins, and Simon's Town, a quaint and popular cape resort. You may also visit the bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and the numerous museums and vineyards nearby. Excellent restaurants, such as the Blues and the Bukhara are within easy reach but must be booked in advance. Overnight at Cape Grace on bed and breakfast basis.

DAYS 4 & 5 - LUXURY TRAIN JOURNEY - The Blue Train
The Blue Train is internationally known for its very highest standards of service and accomodation. When you arrive to board the Blue Train you will be greeted in the elegant and spacious reception lounge. Here you may sip a complimentary glass of champagne while your luggage is taken to your carriage in readiness for the journey - the pampering has begun! The ambience is almost that of an Agatha Christie novel but the facilities are superbly up-to-date. At night the Blue Train exchanges informal for sophisticated. Wander to the club-car, decorated in the train's signature blue and gold stunningly highlighted with patina-ed leather and chenille animal prints, for your pre-dinner cocktails. Dinner is five exquisite courses. The dining car has lovely china, crystal and silver and the meals are prepared from first-class fresh seasonal produce accompanied by fine wines. In the morning your butler brings you morning tea which is sipped whilst the glorious views of Africa go past your window. After breakfast, the train stops at George for an excursion into historic Knysna and a short trip on the Outeniqua Choo Choo train, the last scheduled steam train service in South Africa. For lunch you will return to the train and a wonderful meal, beautifully prepared, attentively served and accompanied by fabulous vistas. In the afternoon you may take an excursion to the famous Cango Caves and an ostrich farm, where you can decide to be the one that rides the ostrich! Dinner and overnight on Blue Train.

DAYS 6, 7 & 8 - GARDEN ROUTE - Plettenberg Park
On arrival in Port Elizabeth you will be provided with your self-drive car. You will drive via a scenic route to Plettenberg Park, at Plettenberg Bay. The Plettenberg Park is tranquil and quite lovely and gazes out to sea from the top of a cliff. It has only four guest rooms, and this very real exclusivity allows you to be cacooned from the rest of the world. The hotel is stunningly decorated in the clear, clean neutrals that suit the modern architectural style so well. Outside is wonderful silvery-oak decking and a breathtaking landscape of sea and cliffs. An inviting path winds down to a sand platform at the water's edge. The food at Plettenberg Park is carefully considered. Meals are planned in consultation with guest and chef. Presentation is exquisite and meals delight the eye as well as the palate. You may choose to go on day trips or simply spend your days by the pool and the sand platform. You will also have access to water-sports, golf, riding or whale watching trips (between July-September), all at additional cost. Accommodation is inclusive of all meals at the Plettenberg Park.
